Triptorelin, in a nutshell, is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRH agonist). What does this mean? Well, this means that Triptorelin acts significantly on the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus is the part of our brain that regulates the production of hormones in both sexes.
GnRH, whose actions are stimulated by Triptorelin, tells our pituitary gland to secrete the follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). When Triptorelin stimulates GnRH, GnRH, in turn, stimulates the pituitary gland to produce more FSH and LH.
